Whether you’re a brand new Apple AirPods owner or you’ve recently purchased a non-Apple device, setting up your AirPods is quick and simple! In this guide, we’ll focus on how to connect your AirPods to Android, Windows, Chromebook, and other non-Apple devices. While pairing your AirPods with an Apple device is straightforward, you can also connect them to other devices with just a few steps. To pair your AirPods, all you need to do is make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device, initiate AirPods pairing mode, and select your AirPods from the Bluetooth device list. Let’s dive in!
Do AirPods Work with Android & Other Non-Apple Devices?
Can you use AirPods with Android, Chromebook, Windows, or other non-Apple devices? The answer is yes. AirPods are compatible with any Bluetooth-enabled device that supports headphones. While you won’t have access to Siri when pairing AirPods with a non-Apple device (no surprise there!), you can still enjoy music, make phone calls, and use them like regular Bluetooth headphones. How to Find Your Bluetooth Menu?
If you’re already familiar with how to access the Bluetooth menu on your non-Apple device, feel free to skip this section and jump straight to pairing your AirPods. For those who need a refresher, here’s how to find the Bluetooth settings on popular devices. Remember, your Bluetooth must be turned on before starting the pairing process.
Access Bluetooth Menu on Android:
- Open Settings.
- Select Connections.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Toggle Bluetooth on if it isn’t already.
Access Bluetooth Menu on Chromebook:
- Click the user menu in the lower-right corner of your home screen.
- Click Bluetooth.
- Toggle Bluetooth on if it isn’t already.
Access Bluetooth Menu on Windows:
- Open Settings.
- Click Devices.
- Select Bluetooth & other devices.
- Toggle Bluetooth on if it isn’t already.
How to Pair Your AirPods with a Non-Apple Device?
Once Bluetooth is enabled on your device, follow these simple steps to pair your AirPods:
- Place both AirPods in their case and open the lid.
- Press and hold the white button on the back of the case until the status light blinks white. This puts your AirPods into pairing mode.
- Select your AirPods from the Bluetooth device list on your device.
- And that’s it! Once paired, your AirPods will automatically connect to the device when you take them out of the case (as long as Bluetooth is enabled). If for any reason your AirPods aren’t connecting, you may need to force AirPods to pairing mode by holding the button on the back of the case again until the light flashes white. This ensures that the connection resets and your AirPods can pair properly.
Now you can enjoy your AirPods on a variety of devices, whether they’re Apple or non-Apple. Keep in mind that while the pairing process is easy, certain features like Siri and automatic switching between devices may not work with non-Apple devices.
